Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 receiving May 2020 security patch update in Japan


A few days ago Asus released the May 2020 security patch update globally for Zenfone Max Pro M1. Now, the company started rolling out the update to its Japanese variant. The company has not added any new features to Zenfone Max Pro M1 in this update but packs a few bug fixes. The update is currently rolling out in Japan and many users also started getting it.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 Pie Update

Talking about the update, it brings fixes for all the prominent security loopholes and issues that were listed in the last two months on Asus & Google community forums. It will also improve the overall stability of the system. The May 2020 security patch update comes with firmware version 16.2017.2005.082. However, the changelog of the update is mentioned below.

  • Google Security Patch Update (May 5, 2020)
  • Supports regional BWA (WiMAX R2.1AE method)
  • Update APN list

To check the update manually, navigate to the Settings> Software updates> Check for Updates and check the status of the update. We also suggest you switch to a WiFi network to avoid carrier data costs.

As of now, the OTA update file is not available to download. It will be made available in the future after the full release.

Zenfone Max Pro M1 Specifications

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 was launched in 2018 with a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display, 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution. It is powered by a Qualcomm SDM636 Snapdragon 636 (14 nm) chipset coupled with the Octa-core processor and Adreno 509 GPU. The smartphone packs with a huge 5,000 mAh battery with charging support up to 10W.

Coming to the camera, there’s a dual-camera on the rear side that includes a 13-megapixel primary camera + 5-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, it sports a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.
