Essential Phone packs some premium features that no other smartphone currently offers


The Essential smartphone is one of the most anticipated premium android devices of 2017. The smartphone is in spotlight since its announcement by Andy Rubin, co-founder of Android. In 2015, Andy Rubin founded Essential Products, aiming to produce high-end smartphones, tablets and smart home devices. The Essential smartphone will be launched as company’s first premium android device.

  • Build quality

The smartphone’s titanium and ceramic build makes it more durable than other smartphones currently available. The company said that the device is able to withstand a drop test due to its tough build quality. The smartphone also comes with modular capabilities.

The smartphone packs a 5.7 inch quad-HD edge-to-edge display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The display looks stunning with resolution of 2560 x 1312 pixels and 19:10 aspect ratio.

  • Specifications

It is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset clocked at 2.45 GHz and Adreno 540 GPU. It packs 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone houses a 3,040mAh battery that supports fast charging.

  • Cameras

The smartphone offers a dual-rear camera setup with 13MP Dual RGB camera sensor along and a 13MP Mono camera sensor with image fusion technology. It boasts an 8MP front-facing camera capable of recording 4K videos.

  • Software and Performance

The Essential runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with no bloatware. The device comes with all the latest specs and therefore, offers great performance.

  • Pricing and Availability

It is currently available for pre-order in the US with a price tag of $699. In the upcoming months, the smartphone will be made available globally.
