Huawei’s Mediapad is now pre-loaded with Android 4.0

CHINESE GADGET MAKER Huawei has announced that its Mediapad is shipping with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) pre-loaded.

With many device vendors on the market promising upgrades to ICS shortly after launch or in the near future, Huawei has gone one better. Its 7in Mediapad tablet will come with Android 4.0 ICS straight out of the box.

In another move to try to differentiate itself from the competition, it has also announced the device in three new colours. These are ‘shadow black’, ‘classic brown’ and ‘passion pink’ in addition to its normal silver finish.

Richard Yu, chairman of Huawei said, “In a tablet market defined by staid black and white tablets, the new colourful Mediapad offers a personalised look without the need for an external case.”

Huawei said the Mediapad with Android 4.0 ICS will be available in the first quarter and that existing owners will get an upgrade by the end of this quarter.
