Finally, after numerous leaks and official teasers, LG unveiled their 2018 flagship – G7 ThinQ (awkward name) at an event in New York. The smartphone features everything that is expected from a 2018 flagship including a notch. Some notable changes over previous generations include a separate power key and a new dedicated key for Google Assistant.

LG G7 ThinQ Specifications

The LG G7 ThinQ is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 coupled with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM based on the storage configuration you choose(64GB / 128GB). On the front, the phone sports a 6.1 inches QHD+(3120×1440 pixels) FullVision “Super Bright” LCD display with a notch. And hence, the aspect ratio of the display is 19:5:9.

The frame of the phone is made of aluminum and the back consists of glass. The left side of the phone features the volume keys and a dedicated key for Google Assistant which sadly cannot be mapped to other functionality. Whereas the right side features a dedicated power key after a long time.

The back of the phone features a dual camera setup and the fingerprint scanner below it. The camera setup consists of a 16MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture and another 16MP wide-angle sensor with f/1.9 aperture. As for the front camera, there is an 8MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture.

The LG G7 ThinQ also has a ‘Boombox Speaker’ and 7.1 channel DTS:X 3D Surround Sound support along with a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC. The phone also supports wireless charging due to the presence of glass back and is IP68 certified for dust and water resistance. Connectivity options include USB Type-C port, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Last but not least, the phone runs on Android 8.0 with LG UX 6.0 on top of it out of the box. It is May and still, the phone did not launch with Android 8.1 but has treble support. And finally, the whole package is backed by a smaller 3,000 mAh battery.
