Moto Z2 Play to receive a lower capacity 3000 mAh battery says Lenovo

Lenovo’s Moto Z2 Play has already passed TENAA and is scheduled to release on June 8. And we have had a peek at the upcoming devices specs. But today Lenovo official confirmed on its Twitter account that the battery is scheduled for a downgrade in terms of capacity.

This tidbit of info came to light when an Indian user Anant Anbhule‏ tweeted to Lenovo, “Lenovo if you have small battery in Moto z2 play then you have big mistake.” Surprisingly, Lenovo replied “Hi Anant. Moto Z2 Play has Non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery. Auxen_Lenovo.” Earlier reports have pointed to a smaller battery of 2820 mAh capacity for the modular smartphone from Moto. This report concurs to the earlier leaked info. It might also mean that the Z2 Play will be even thinner than it’s predecessor, making it a wafer-thin device.

Well, this confirmation doesn’t bode well with Moto fans who will be unhappy to see a significantly lower battery life. How bad will it be is yet to be seen. Comparing it to last years Moto Z play, which had a 3510 mAh battery was known for its great battery life too.
The Moto Z Play was one of a kind device which came with feasible, easy to use modular parts, called MotoMods. These parts can be added to the phone anytime and removed easily like you remove a back cover.

We can definitely say Moto got the modular smartphone idea better than LG. There were a handful of Moto Mods to come with the Z2 Play like a JBL Speaker, Hasselblad True Zoom camera mod, a projector and extra battery pack.

Moto Z2 Play Specs:

The Moto Z2 Play is expected to come with a a 5.5-inch FHD OLED display. It will rock the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 clocked at 2.2 Ghz with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB RAM. It is also expected to be super-thin at 6mm. On the camera side, it will have a 12MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 5MP front camera. Design-wise, it is expected to be strikingly similar to the Moto Z Play. Of course, this is according to TENAA. Expect more leaks in the coming days nearing the Moto Z2 Play’s launch on June 8. Moto has just released a new ultra-affordable Moto C series worldwide.
