Apple AirTags like OnePlus Tag appear online in a Patent Filing

A few years back, a company named Tile launched one of the first smart tags. These Tags are smart devices that can hook on to things like a key chain. They are basically a tracking device that communicates via Bluetooth and other technologies such as UWB to help users easily find their items like keys or bags. Tile was the most popular seller for these tags for a long duration. However, major players like Samsung and Apple have recently entered the market. Apple with their Apple AirTags and Samsung with their Galaxy SmartTag have popularized this niche to a wider range of consumers. Now, a lot of other OEMs are joining this smart tag bandwagon. The newest addition could be OnePlus Tags from OnePlus according to a recent patent filing.

DroidMaze spotted a new trademark for OnePlus Tag. This was registered by Beijing Intangible Technology Co, Ltd, which is the parent company of OnePlus. Along with the OnePlus Tag, other trademarks such as OnePlus TV, OnePlus X, OnePlus Play, and OnePlus Lifestyle were also spotted.

The OnePlus Tag patent was filed on 18th May 2021. It carries the registration number 56159145. If this patent is anything to go by, we could see OnePlus’ own take at a smart tag very soon. OnePlus’ tags could be very similar to Oppo’s Smart Tag with UWB which were leaked recently.

While we don’t know if or when the OnePlus Tags will launch, there’s another OnePlus launch just around the corner. OnePlus is going to launch the Nord CE 5G along with the OnePlus TV U1S on 10th June. According to leaks, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G is going to be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G along with a 90Hz FHD+ AMOLED panel. The device will also house a 3.5mm headphone jack along with a 64MP primary camera.
