Samsung has been launching smartphones in different styles. A few years back, it scrapped the Galaxy Note series to bring space for foldable smartphones. Samsung has made both foldable and flip smartphones available in the market now. Recently, the brand unveiled the fourth generation of those smartphones. Some reports suggest Samsung is working on a smartphone with a transparent rear design.
A few years back, Samsung filed trademarks for transparent design at USPTO (the United States Patent and Trademark Office) and the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office). The patent was based on the technical aspect of achieving transparency. It details the different layers and components required to achieve the same. Samsung is also planning to bring a rear-facing display which will be a transparent one. This patent was filed in January by Samsung at World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Some images that went online via Sammobile show that the upcoming Samsung smartphone will feature a small display on the backside. The rear display panel is transparent and would work with a standard display. It will probably be used as an always-on display. It can also be customized to display device information, logos, unique designs, information at a glance, date, time, day, notifications, etc.
