Redmi 9A and Redmi 9C launched with new MediaTek Helio G-Series SoCs

Today, Xiaomi has launched Redmi 9A and Redmi 9C as the new ultra-budget friendly devices in Malaysia. Xiaomi Malaysia made this announcement yesterday via a Facebook post. While Xiaomi did not reveal anything about the global availability of the newly launched smartphones, we are quite hopeful that the smartphones will make a way to other global markets like India. The smartphones seem quite promising in the entry-level segment considering their specs and price.

Redmi 9A and 9C Specifications

Redmi 9A and 9C are the first smartphones powered by the new MediaTek Helio G25 and G35 SoCs. MediaTek released these new processors lately for gaming-centric devices in the budget segment. Both Redmi 9A and 9C sport a 6.53-inch HD+ Dot Drop display, 2GB RAM + 32GB of internal storage, expandable via a microSD card (up to 512GB). The smartphones come with an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU (2Ghz and 2.3Ghz respectively) along with PowerVR GE8320 GPU.

In the camera department, Redmi 9A offers a 13MP AI rear camera along with a 5MP selfie camera. Redmi 9C, on the other hand, comes with a 13MP AI triple camera at the rear and same 5MP front camera. Both devices pack a fairly large 5,000mAh battery that may impress a wide group of the audience looking to own a new budget smartphone. The budget-focused devices run on Android 10 with MIUI 11 on top out of the box.

Redmi 9A starts at RM 359 (~6,300 INR), making it a very affordable device, and to further bring the price down, the company has introduced a flash sale price of just RM 319 (~5,600 INR) when it goes on sale on July 7.  You need to pay a little extra to own Redmi 9C as it comes with a couple of extras in the spec sheet, the device starts at RM 429 (~7,500 INR).
