Samsung Announces Galaxy Mega 6.3 and 5.8 Phablet

After Galaxy Note series, Samsung has launched one more phablet series – Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Mega 5.8. While Samsung is saying that these are smartphones not phablets. Both the phablets have some different specs and features.

These phablets are more affordable than high end s Galaxy Note Series. We can even say that these are mid ranged phablets.

Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3

The 6.3-inch model has an HD display alongside Exynos 5250 chipset with a dual-core 1.7GHz Cortex A15 processor. It runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and an 8-megapixel camera with support of up to 64GB of storage. It houses a 1.5GB of RAM with 1.9 MP of Front Shooter.

Samsung has modified it with it’s own TouchWiz modifications like Multi-window and Air View. In Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 you will also get LTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, NFC and packs an IR emitter. There’s a 3,200mAh battery and its dimensions measures to be 167.6 x 88 x 8.0 mm and weighs 199g. It will be available in two versions – 8 GB and 16 GB.[divider]

Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8

The smaller device in the line-up, Galaxy Mega 5.8 is packed with 1.4GHz dual core processor with 1.5 GB RAM. Its also packed with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a more modest 1.9-megapixel shooter. Its bolted with a 5.8-inch TFT touchscreen and you can extend its external memory upto 64 GB via microSD card.

In connectivity it includes  2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB 2.0. It will be available in 8GB variant only and it runs on Android 4,2 Jelly Bean. Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 measures 162.6 x 82.4 x 9.0 mm, weighs 182g and has a 2,600 mAh battery.

JK Shin, CEO and head of IT & mobile business, Samsung Electronics said, “We are aware of a great potential in the bigger screen for extensive viewing multimedia, web browsing, and more. We are excited to provide another choice to meet our consumers’ varying lifestyles, all while maintaining the high-quality features of the award-winning Galaxy series.”

Both phones will apparently be available from May onwards, although Samsung has yet to fix a firm date or announce pricing.
