Though MIUI 9 Global stable was first released in October of last year, Xiaomi is yet to update a number of their devices. And one such device, the best entry level smartphone of 2016 – Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime are now receiving the MIUI 9 update.
The MIUI 9 update which is now being rolled out to a few number of users is a nightly update. It weighs around 376MB and the firmware version is MIUI V9.2.2.0.MALMIEK. The Android version still remains as Marshmallow and sadly the security patch is from April 2017. But, that is the case with all the Xiaomi smartphones which are stated to receive the MIUI 9 update.
In case you do not know, Xiaomi will be updating 40 devices to MIUI 9 which were launched from 2012. And some of them have already received the update, but still there are plenty of them yet to receive it. Thus, we could not complain much about the Android version upgrade, but still they could at least provide latest security patch to newer devices from a year or two.
That’s apart, MIUI 9 stable update will be rolling out to more Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime users in the coming days as the nightly update goes successful.
