Asus releases a limited number of smartphone models when compared to other major OEMs worldwide. The company launched their latest smartphone Asus 6Z back in June 2019 and since then we have not seen any new release. At the present time, no one knows when Asus will be introducing a new series or successor to their existing smartphone lineup. However, the company seems to be focused when it comes to pushing software updates to their existing smartphones.
Asus has started rolling out a new software update with July security patch to Asus Zenfone 6 with model number ZS630KL. The update tagged with build number 17.1810.2007.165 weighs 78.65MB and should be available for a global audience. In April this year, the smartphone received March security update with added support for VoWiFi and VoLTE though limited to Reliance Jio and Tele2 users in India and Sweden respectively. This new update brings additional VoWiFi and VoLTE support for Telia network in Sweden, Norway, and Finland.
The July security update release notes state:
- Google Security Patch Update (July 1, 2020)
- Improved performance when using a Bluetooth headset
- Improved system performance
Asus will be rolling out the OTA update in different phases and may take a considerable time to reach all users based on your carrier and location. In order to manually check for the update, you may tap Settings > System > System updates to see if the new firmware is available for download.
