Carl Pei confirms Nothing OS update based on Android 13

It’s been more than a month since Nothing unveiled its Phone (1). So far, the company has released 3 system updates. All of these software updates added new features and improvements ins several aspects, including battery, camera, UI, and more. In the latest development, Carl Pei, Nothing CEO and OnePlus co-founder has made an announcement regarding the first major update for the device.

In this latest tweet, the company’s owner announced that it intends to roll out an Android 13-based Nothing OS beta update for the Nothing Phone (1) by the end of the year. This confirms that the device will hit the stable Android 13 milestone by early 2023. Here is the official tweet:

Further, he added that the company “won’t rush on updates at the expense of user experience.” Considering the statement and the bugs that come pre-loaded with Android 13, the slow updating speed seems fine. Although we did expect the new brand to be fierce with Android updates.

In addition to this, another tweet by the CEO said that the brand is “looking to create some fun and interesting software experiences.” With all these teasers, it will be interesting to see the modifications with the upcoming Nothing OS.

As of now, the Nothing Phone (1) comes pre-loaded with Nothing OS 1.0, which is close to stock Android. To recall, the latest update for the first handset adds some new features like a reminder to clean the camera lenses and an option to turn on Google’s Adaptive Battery.
