Galaxy Tab A 9.7 gets Android 7.1.1 Nougat update via OTA

Android Nougat has been rolling out to many mid-range Samsung devices this month. The latest addition to the list is Galaxy Tab A 9.7. Right now, the update rolls out to specific European regions like Germany, Italy, Hungary, Ireland, and Spain. This two-year-old tablet is now receiving its second OS update and with that, we might expect not to get any more in the future. Tab A 9.7 got Marshmallow in 2016.

With Android 7.1.1 Nougat now hitting the tablet, users can now expect the highly useful multi-window feature as well as Doze Mode, instant apps, better notifications, quick settings, notification dots and so on. Now, it was earlier reported that the Tab A line would get Android Nougat. So, the OTA update is not surprising in that sense. What is surprising is its Android 7.1.1. The only other device running 7.1.1 is Galaxy Note 8.

If you want to check out the update hit you or not manually, head on to Settings -> About -> System Update ->. Also, as we say regularly, don’t forget to check your storage space, battery above 50%, and switch to Wi-Fi before hitting update.
