HMD Global to announce Nokia X6 with 19:9 display on 27th April

HMD Global, the startup behind Nokia branded smartphones have successfully added their name to the top 10 in the shipments at the end of 2017. The important thing to note here is that they did it under less than a year thanks to ‘nostalgia’. This year at MWC, the company even enrolled into Android One program with all their smartphones. And they don’t seem to stop yet as they are all set to unveil the new Nokia X6 this Friday.

nokia 6xLast week, digital posters for Nokia X teaser were spotted in China. All it mentioned was the unveiling date – 27th April which is coming Friday. And going by HMD Global’s tradition, this smartphone might be China exclusive at least for few months like the original Nokia 6. Also, it might not come to other regions such as the Nokia 7.

The Nokia X was believed to be the next flagship from Nokia, but it turns out it won’t. Certification from CCC wireless revealed the model numbers(TA-1099 and TA-1109) of the upcoming Nokia X and the normal 5V / 2A charger it will come with. This clearly means the phone won’t support fast charging and will be less likely a flagship smartphone.

But today, a new information reveals that this X series phone will be called X6 and will be available in two variants with different chipsets and RAM configuration. The top model will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 coupled with 6GB of RAM. On the other hand, the base model will feature Mediatek Helio P60 with 4GB RAM.

Both the models will sport a 5.8 inches display with an aspect ratio of 19:9. Also, they will feature dual camera setup(Zeiss lens) at the back and will run Android Oreo out of the box. The Snapdragon 636 variant will retail for CNY 1,800, whereas the Helio P60 will cost CNY 1,600.
