Unknown Nokia smartphone with waterfall display leaks in renders

Nokia-branded smartphones are doing well in budget and mid-range segments but the same cannot be said for the premium segment. All the flagship Nokia-branded Android smartphones launched so far could not keep up with the competition. But now, out of nowhere, an unknown Nokia smartphone with waterfall display leaks in renders which could be a game-changer for the brand.

Unknown Nokia Waterfall Display Smartphone Render Leak 01

HMD Global, the company behind Nokia-branded smartphones has not launched a proper flagship/premium phone in a long time. The last one which was Nokia 9 PureView came with a year-old Qualcomm Snapdragon flagship processor with a finicky under-display fingerprint sensor. Though the company focused more on the cameras, they were not up to the mark. Even the Nokia 8 before it, came with another old processor and was way behind the competitors. In a nutshell, HMD Global’s Nokia-branded flagship/premium smartphones were never good.

However, the table could now turn for the Finnish phone maker, if these leaked renders are true. But that also depends on the launch, availability and price of the device, in which too, the company does the poor job. Anyways, looking at these leaked renders, we can clearly guess how attractive the final product could be with that waterfall display. This type of display design is currently only available on Huawei Mate 30 Pro and Vivo Nex 3.

The display of the phone does not have any notch or hole. But instead, it comes with a bit wider forehead which seems to house a number of sensors and (maybe)multiple cameras for face authentication. We are not sure whether the device features an under-display fingerprint sensor but it could be a possibility. Whereas on the back, the unknown Nokia smartphone seems to come with five cameras with Zeiss lens similar to its predecessor. Four sensors sit in the circular frame and a single sensor which is most probably a TOF unit, is located outside below the flash module.

Sadly, nothing else is known regarding the specifications of this upcoming unknown Nokia smartphone with waterfall display. But one thing is for sure that it will get monthly security patches and Android OS updates in a timely manner.
