Honor, the sub-brand of Huawei popular for launching good value for money smartphones, has today launched a budget Tablet in India. The Honor Pad 5 comes in two variants – 8inch and 10inch with the base model rated at INR. 15,499.
It’s not a secret that the Android Tablet market share is declining year by year, and Huawei is going through a tough time due to the prevailing U.S. ban. Nonetheless, nothing is stopping Huawei from taking chance and launching its products. Perhaps, the Honor Pad 5 has been launched aside the Honor 20-Series smartphones which are said to be the new flagship contender.
The smaller, 8-inch Honor Pad has an FHD panel of 1920×1200 pixels resolution. Being a mid-range tablet, it is powered by an octa-core Kirin 710 SoC. The Kirin 710 is comparable with the Qualcomm’s Snadragon 710 Mobile Platform. On the software side, it runs Android 9 Pie and Magic 2.0 UI. Camera-wise, the Honor Pad 5″(8in) is equipped with an 8MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie shooter.
Speaking of the larger Honor Pad 5 10inch. Ironically, it is powered by Kirin 659 SoC, a slightly under-powered SoC than the Kirin 710. Not just that, Huawei has bundled a mere 2MP front camera and on the top of that comes with the dated Android 8.0 Oreo (EMUI 8.0). Fortunately, there are something which makes the 10imch better than the 8inch. They’re the inclusion of a fingerprint reader which the 8-inch model lacks and a stereo-speaker tuned by Harman Kardon.
As of the availability, both the models van be purchased from Flipkart in a single Glacial Blue colour. The 8-inch base model with 3GB + 32GB configuration is priced at Rs 15,499. Its storage upgraded version with 4GB + 64GB configuration costs Rs 17,499. While the 10 inch counterpart is worth Rs 16,999 for the 3/32Gab config and Rs 18,999 for the 4GB + 64GB edition.
