Job Listing Reveals Google is Building Processors


As per the new job listing from mountain View Company, Google is working on processors or they are building the processors. It seems Google is going to enter the chipset market and wants to compete with the largest chipset manufacturers.

From The steps it is revealed that Google don’t want to depend on other manufacturers to shape their ideas or products into reality. Recently Chromebook Pixel and Pixel C has come up with Google’s designing and manufacturing, apart from one major part, the Tegra X1 processor, which was designed by Nvidia.

From next few years it can be suspected that Google might come with their own processor. Further, new Nexus devices, Pixel devices might get fully manufactured by Google. Right now, Nexus devices are designed by Google but got manufactured by other companies.

According to chip analyst Jim McGregor, it’s not unusual for system designers to hire people with chipset expertise, as they can analyze the processors and think up of ways to improve their features.

The job listing specifically mentions “image processing, video processing, stabilization.” Further it is explained as, “In this role, you are responsible for the multimedia performance in systems. You will work with product team and software team to enable a rich multimedia experience. You will be working in aspects of multimedia including image processing, video processing, stabilization, etc. You will be working in emerging technology and products.”

So we have to wait to know what exactly is going in the Google.
