Nothing is one of the slowest brands to roll out the Android 13 update for its smartphones. Major brands like Samsung have pushed the stable update to many smartphones, including budget ones. Nothing has finally started to push its open beta update with Nothing OS 1.5 for its Nothing Phone 1. Earlier in November 2022, Nothing founder and CEO Carl Pei teased the upcoming version of Nothing OS 1.5.0 based on Android 13. The update is available to those users who previously applied for the programme. The brand has emailed everyone who applied to let them know whether they are shortlisted.
The shortlisted users will receive an email with a final form before receiving the Open Beta update. Nothing warns its users that popular apps like Google Play and Netflix won’t work. Other warnings include that downgrading Android 12 is challenging like other OEM smartphones. Nothing Phone 1 requires ADB commands to downgrade to Android 12. Indirectly, Nothing confirms that you will require a PC to downgrade your smartphone. Like other OEM smartphones, your data will be lost before downgrading. Make sure to backup your data before you install Android 12 on your Nothing Phone 1.
The update will include both changes from Android 13 and Nothing OS. The official changelog has yet to be made available. The download links for Nothing OS 1.5, based on Android 13, are also unavailable. We will update you guys once it is available on the internet. Do let us know if you have received the update or not.
