November Security Patch rolling out on Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Sony Xperia XA1 family

Over the past few days, we’ve seen some handful of handsets receiving November security patches. And, is of pleasure to see the smartphone manufacturers providing timely security fixes. Well, mid-November is over and the smartphone manufacturers are now more diligent to deliver the latest security maintenance release to their eligible devices. Similarly, two of the well-reputed OEM’s, Samsung and Sony have started seeding the November Patch to Galaxy Note5 and Xperia XA1 series respectively.

Samsung Galaxy Note5 Latest Update

A day or so after Samsung pushed the latest SMR to the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge. Now, it’s time for the 2 years old Galaxy Note 5 to have one. The update is hitting Galaxy Note5 units in Thailand. And, of course it’ll be reaching other regions and Note5 models soon. The patch level is dated 1st November 2017.

Being a device protection concentric system update, no new notable features or UI changes are brought to the 2015 Phablet. However, it’s worth noting that, the November security update bundles patches for 61 vulnerabilities in the core Android OS supplied by Google and six for the firm’s own customised software branded as Samsung Experience. Most importantly, much needed fix for the KRACK Wi-Fi exploit is also a main ingredient in the patch.

Sony Xperia XA1 Series Latest Software Update

In case of Sony Xperia XA1s, the OTA update brings Security patch level dated as 6th November 2017. The recently launched Xperia XA1 Plus is attaining the first system update, that takes its build number from 48.0.A.1.66 to 48.0.A.1.99. And, the middle-sibling Xperia XA1’s build number changes from 40.0.A.6.135 to version 40.0.A.6.162. Whereas, the mammoth 6-inch Xperia XA 1 Ultra’s build number move to 42.0.A.4.133 from the previous 42.0.A.4.101.
