Redmi 7A starts receiving MIUI 11 update with December 2019 security patch in India

Xiaomi has been seeding out MIUI 11 update to all the eligible smartphones for over months now. Almost all the devices have received the update except for some entry-level and old devices in certain regions. Thankfully, the company has started rolling out the updates to these devices now. Following that, the Indian Redmi 7A which was left out earlier has now started receiving the MIUI 11 update with December 2019 security patch.

Redmi 7A is currently the best-selling smartphone of Xiaomi. According to Counterpoint Research, this phone seized 9th position accounting for 1.2% of the total smartphone sales during Q3 2019. Being an entry-level smartphone, it was in the last of new smartphones released in 2019 to receive the MIUI 11 update. But to everyone’s surprise, the international variant of the device started receiving the update during the first batch rollout. But the Indian variant of the device did not get the update until December which, however, was soon halted by the company. And now, as a new year present, the company has started rolling the update once again but with an updated December 2019 security patch.

The new MIUI 11 update for Redmi 7A in India comes with a build number V11.0.2.0.PCMINXM and weighs around 1.5GB in size. Although the update comes with December 2019 security patch, it is still based on Android Pie like other budget smartphones by Xiaomi.
