Samsung has updated their flagship for the year 2018 with the Galaxy S9 duo. But, they are yet to update a number of their mid-range and budget smartphones for this year. In case you are not aware of, the South Korean tech giant has already announced the 2018 versions of Galaxy J2, Galaxy A8 / A8 Plus, and others. Moving on, Samsung is all set to unveil the new Galaxy A6 and A6 Plus which unfortunately have leaked with specifications as well as press renders.

Unlike previous Samsung Galaxy A series smartphones, the upcoming Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6 Plus will not feature a glass back design. But, they do have a metal unibody design and taller 18:5:9 Super AMOLED displays. Both will run on Android Oreo with Samsung Experience on top out of the box. Also, they will have support for Samsung Pay in selected regions.

Samsung Galaxy A6 2018 Specifications

The regular Galaxy A6 will feature a 5.6 inches HD+(1480×720 pixels) Super AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 18:5:9. It will be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 9 7870 Octa clocked at 1.7Ghz. As for storage, it will feature 32GB ROM and 3GB RAM. However, the storage configurations may vary in different regions. It will also feature microSD card slot like any other Samsung device.

As for cameras are concerned, it will come equipped with a single 16MP primary shooter with f/1.7 aperture. The phone also features the same 16MP camera at the front but with f/1.9 aperture. The fingerprint sensor is placed perfectly below the rear camera module like the Galaxy S9 duo and Galaxy A8 duo. Lastly, the whole package will be backed by a 3,000 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus 2018 Specifications

The bigger A6 Plus will sport a better 6.0 inches FHD+(2220×1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display with the same 18:5:9 taller aspect ratio. Under the hood, it will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 clocked at 1.8Ghz rather than Samsung’s Exynos SoC. Like its smaller sibling, the storage configuration may vary based on the regions it will be sold. Anyways, the storage can be further expanded via microSD card.

Coming to the camera department, the Galaxy A6 Plus will feature dual camera setup at the back. The setup will consist of 16MP and 5MP sensors with f/1.7 and f/1.9 apertures respectively. Thus, the phone will support bokeh mode to blur the background. As for the front camera, it will feature a whopping 24MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash.

Also, the Galaxy A6 Plus will have a USB type-C port, Gigabit LTE modem and Bluetooth 5.0. Last but not least, it will be backed by a 3,500 mAh battery. In our opinion, the Galaxy A6 Plus will be a much better buy than the Galaxy A6.

The Samsung Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6 Plus will be available from May, possibly from the second week or later. The Galaxy A6 will be priced between €300 and €340,  whereas the Galaxy A6 plus will retail between €360 and €400.
