US Department of Justice is seizing various sites which are trafficking pirated Android apps. The sites involved are named as applanet.net, appbucket.net and snappzmarket.com. US Department of Justice along with the FBI have shut down three domains that have been associated with the distribution and pirating of Android apps. US Assistant Attorney General Breuer said:

“Software apps have become an increasingly essential part of our nation’s economy and creative culture, and the Criminal Division is committed to working with our law enforcement partners to protect the creators of these apps and other forms of intellectual property from those who seek to steal it.”

The action is being touted as the first of its kind against the ever-growing black market for smartphone apps and games.
