Xiaomi to roll out MIUI 9 Global stable update starting November 3rd

Xiaomi has been teasing the global launch of the stable MIUI 9 for past few days. And finally, they have announced it and the same will be rolling out to all the Xiaomi smartphones launched since 2012. The first batch of devices to receive the updates are Redmi Note 4 and Mi Max 2 starting from tomorrow itself.

The main aim of MIUI 9 is to offer speed and Xiaomi also claims it is as fast as stock Android. Listed below are the system optimizations provided by MIUI 9 :

  • Automatic background activity management
  • Launch speed boost
  • Dynamic resource allocation
  • Critical background acceleration
  • Core congestion control
  • Deep sleep recovery
  • Improved data transmission efficiency
  • Automatic cache clearing
  • New file system
  • Cache management
  • Real-time fragmentation
  • WiFi speed boost

MIUI 9 also comes with three notifications style such as multiple styles, bundling notifications and quick replies. Split screen mode finally makes it way to the MIUI with an ability to switch apps in a snap. Also the new update comes with 21 new animated icons. The stock MIUI apps also get some sweet treatment.

The Mi Video app now supports all popular formats and comes with auto grouping function. The Smart Photo editing tool in gallery can now remove any unwanted objects from your pictures. Special and fun stickers are also now available to apply on you photos. The new Indian Calendar app comes with subscription cards like Indian festival cards, panchang calendar and others. The PNR of Indian Railways(IRCTC) will be displayed as a card containing all the information in the SMS app itself. Finally, the Mi drop app is now available from the play store and can be installed on any smartphone to transfer files at higher speed.

Here, we have listed the update schedules for MIUI 9 provided by Xiaomi :

  • 1st Batch – Redmi Note 4, Mi Max 2 (from November 3)
  • 2nd Batch – Mi Mix 2, Redmi Y1, Redmi Y1 lite, Redmi 4, Mi 5, Mi Max (from Mid-November)
  • 3rd Batch – Remaining others (early December)
