Google has fixed Android 8.1 Oreo OTA install issues

Google released the developer preview of Android 8.1 Oreo a few days back. But when the company uploaded OTA images of various Pixel and Nexus devices, users had issues installing them. The case wasn’t the same for factory images. They were working fine. It was only with OTA images that the files wouldn’t install on many devices. In short, the new files would cause a sort of boot-loop. After that, it would revert back to Android 8.0 and display a notification that said, “Couldn’t install system update.”

Google probed the matter quickly to turn up with a fix. And today Google has confirmed officially that it is now safe to use the images. You can find the official statement in the source link below.

If you haven’t still unlocked your bootloader then you would be happy to know that the new build is identical to the old one. Also, it should be live now. Meanwhile, Google has also replied to ongoing concerns regarding the Pixel 2 XL display and extended warranty of both phones by one more year.
