The Guardian’s Official App Now Available on Google TV

Google TV Users Now have direct access to Guardian. Naturally it will only be available in the US on Google TV, but as it is accessed through the browser at, desktop users can also take a peek. The Guardian said they chose to develop this first app for Google’s platform because development was relatively easy.

“We’ve focused on Google TV for now, because Chrome allows us to build an app quickly,” wrote Folwell. “In theory, this means we can create and release new versions of the app as often as we want, avoiding the lengthy approval processes required by some other connected TV platforms. We’ll experiment in real time with the content on offer and the user interface, tweaking both as we go.”

Features on the Google app include:

– Content displayed in an easy to navigate way with a menu of options including news, videos,  galleries and settings
– Guardian Eyewitness image opening screen that changes daily
– The latest news articles from the Guardian
– View videos from the Guardian in high definition
– Stunning picture galleries that can be viewed as a slide show
– An option to view arts and features and sports content

Hi, I am an avid Android fan since its release. Later, I decided to merge my interests in writing and opened up GoAndroid Blog. I love to surf, write, read about new things.
