The search giant introduced March 2021 security update for Pixel, along with which arrives the fix for issues impacting Android Auto. It bundles resolves the issue that caused the phone to reboot automatically when connected to the car.

In fact, the official changelog shared by Google states the fix for the app i.e; “fix for an issue causing Android Auto disconnects in certain scenarios.” However, the fix may be only available if you own Pixel 3 / XL, Pixel 3a / XL, Pixel 4 / XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, or Pixel 5.

Regarding Auto-boot, the search giant explained that a combination of bugs in Android Auto and Google Chrome caused this inconvenience which ended with the smartphone restart every time it was plugged into a car. The fix is provided at the OS level to make it more effective.

Google states, “A fix has been applied for Android Auto app version 6.1 (currently rolling out in Google Play) and Chrome app version 88.0.4324.181 or higher (available in Google Play for everyone).
