OnePlus Nord starts receiving Android 11 Stable Update

OnePlus has started rolling out a couple of new updates to its smartphones from the past few days. Recently, it has spun out a couple of new updates to the OnePlus 7, 7T, and 8T Series. The company has now begun rolling out the Android 11 Stable update for the OnePlus Nord users. The update bears the firmware version Oxygen OS 11.AC01DA, and it weighs around 2910MB in size.

What’s new?

As per the changelog/ release note, the update comes with a couple of new features, optimizations, etc. It adds the Insight clock style, a joint creation with Parsons School of Design, Canvas always-on display, which can extract the subject’s outline from any photo and display it on your lock screen, shortcut key for Dark Mode, pull down the quick setting to enable, a weather widget with smarter animation effect, the Story feature, which can automatically create the weekly stories by using your local photos and videos, etc. Apart from these, it might also include a few features of Android 11. The changelog of this update is as follows.

    • The brand new UI design brings you a more comfortable experience with various optimizations of details
    • Optimized the stability of some third-party apps and improved experience
  • Ambient Display
    • Newly added Insight clock style, a joint creation with Parsons School of Design. It will change according to the phone usage data (Go to: Settings – Customization – Clock on ambient display)
    • Newly added the Canvas always-on display, which can extract the subject’s outline from any photo and display it on your lock screen (Go to: Settings – Customization – Wallpaper – Canvas – Choose photo preview and it can be generated automatically)
  • Dark Mode
    • Added the shortcut key for Dark Mode, pull down the quick setting to enable.
    • Now supporting automatically turn on feature & customize time range. (Go to: Settings – Display – Dark Mode – Turn on automatically – Automatically enable from sunset to sunrise / Custom time range)
  • Shelf
    • Brand new shelf UI
    • Newly added a weather widget with smarter animation effect
  • Gallery
    • Newly added the Story feature, which can automatically create the weekly stories by using your local photos and videos
    • Optimized the loading speed to improve the image preview experience

The update is turning out in a staggered way, and users need to wait for a few days to experience it. To check the update status manually, head over to Settings>Software updates and check for the updates. Also, make sure to maintain at least 60% of charging before updating to avoid carrier data charges.

OnePlus Nord Specifications

In July 2020, OnePlus officially unveiled the OnePlus Nord with a 6.44-inch display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G (7 nm) Chipset. In-camera, there’s a quad rear camera and a dual front-facing camera. It comes with 6/8/12GB of RAM and 64/128/256GB of internal storage. The device runs Android 10 based OxygenOS 10.5.9 out of the box and packs a 4,115 mAh battery.
