OnePlus offers various exclusive features to its smartphones that are not publically revealed or specifically mentioned. But, for the OnePlus 9 series, the case seems to be much different, a feature is actually missing. The File Dash feature from the File Manager app is unavailable for the users of OnePlus 9 lineup.
Initially, it was vague why this happened, but it turns out for good. The File Dash transfer is now replaced with Google’s Nearby Share feature. The OnePlus team states:
“In order to provide more seamless file transfer experience among Android devices, we have replaced “File Dash” feature with “Nearby Share” feature provided by Google. Users can go to Settings, click “Google,” and then click “Device Connections.” Users can then click “Nearby Share” to transfer files. If the other device does not support Nearby Share, users can transfer files via Bluetooth or other third-party applications.”
Nearby Share is a feature powered by Google that allows data to be transferred via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It permits the rapid short-range exchange of files and folders in a more seamless and uninterrupted way among all Android smartphones.
Unlike other apps, it does not require any lengthy process, a simple tap will show you a list of devices in your proximity with which you can share content. Nearby Share then automatically chooses the best protocol for fast and easy sharing even when you’re totally offline. Moreover, the company is preparing to add group transfer support which will enable the user to transfer files simply by tapping two phones together.
