Pixel 6a September 2022 Security Patch update now live [OTA Zip]

After a slight wait, the latest September 2022 Security patch update along with several other fixes and improvements is finally rolling out for the Pixel 6a. The device was left alone without the update a few days ago when other Pixel-compatible devices received the update.

There are many changes and optimizations that are part of the latest firmware version TP1A.220905.004. The major issue with the fingerprint scanner is fixed and there will be battery improvement with an update.

As per latest announcement by Made by Google, the Pixel 6a is receiving  Live Translate feature with the ability to translate face-to-face conversations and even translate signs with the camera.

The September 2022 update includes bug fixes and improvements for Pixel users – see below for details.
Battery & Charging
  • Fix for issue occasionally causing increased battery drain from certain launcher background activities
Biometrics
  • Additional improvements for fingerprint recognition and response in certain conditions *[2]
Bluetooth
  • Fix for issue occasionally preventing certain Bluetooth devices or accessories from connecting
User Interface
  • Fix for issue occasionally causing notifications to appear truncated on the lock screen

The interested users can easily install the update by manually flashing the OTA zip file or Recovery ROM.
There are plenty of new features that are expected this December, as the Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1 build went live last week giving us a glimpse of those features. Google is also preparing for some foldable Pixel devices that could launch in the unforeseeable future.
