Samsung Galaxy Note 8 now receiving July Security Patch update

Samsung has now started rolling out the July 2020 security patch update to the Galaxy Note 8, just a couple of days after Galaxy Note 9 received this update. While the smartphone was released almost 3 years ago, Samsung pushing out timely updates for such a seasoned device is really commendable. This July security update upgrades the firmware version to N950FXXSCDTF1 on the Galaxy Note 8. This update is originally being pushed for the users in Chile and Argentina and will soon be available for users across the globe.

The July security update is meant to improve the security on your device and does not include any new features or noticeable changes. Just like other Galaxy devices, it mainly addresses an issue where the smartphone crashes when the user tries to apply a certain kind of wallpaper. It also includes a fix to the exploit that may enable unauthorized apps to write data on to the SD card, that may result in the memory data leak. You should install this update to fix the threats and vulnerabilities that may compromise your security. It is worth noting that downloading security updates in a timely manner makes your device safe against latest security loopholes.

Once the update is available for your region, you will receive a system notification asking to download and install the update. In case you do not receive any such notification, you should try manually checking for the update by navigating to Settings > Software updates > Check for updates.
