Samsung India announces Exynos 7904 mid-range processor, might power Galaxy M30

Samsung is all set to regain its lost fame in the mid-range segment in India. We know that Samsung is prepping to launch three budget devices under new Galaxy M Series on 28th January. Today, Samsung India has officially introduced a new Exynos chipset which should power at least one of the Galaxy M device due later next week. The all-new Exynos 7904 is a mid-range chipset offering high-end features in mid-range smartphonessamsung india announces exynos 7904 mid-range processor, might power galaxy m30

Samsung says, the Exynos 7904 is specially customized for India and the Millenials, the cost-effective processor is optimized to deliver high-end multimedia capabilities in the mid-range smartphones. Seeing the core implementation and the base frequency, it seems the SoC is a refined edition of the Exynos 7885.

Samsung Exynos 7904 Specifications

The Exynos 7904 is fabricated based on a 14-nanometer (nm) FinFET process. It belongs to the family of Exynos 7 Series chipsets which includes other chipsets such as Exynos 7870 and 7872. Samsung claims of the processor to deliver fast octa-core performance required for silk-smooth web browsing and app launching on smartphones.

Coming to the core configuration, the Exynos 7904 is equipped with two Cortex®-A73 cores that run at 1.8-gigahertz (GHz), and six Cortex®-A53 cores at 1.6 GHz. The former core is the big-man here with high-performance capability. While the latter is all about efficiency.

The chipset comprises of embedded LTE modem capable of Cat.12 3-carrier aggregation (CA) for 600-Megabits-per-second (Mbps) downlink speed. Since most of the Indian operators are testing the CA in multiple locations and might soon roll-out widely, the 3CA support helps to boost the network speed drastically.

The image signal processor (ISP) of the Exynos 7904 is lit. It supports single-camera resolution of up to 32MP and an advanced triple-camera setup for high-resolution imaging and a number of new features. Note that, this is in-line with the previous leak that the Galaxy M30, supposedly powered by the Exynos 7904, could feature triple camera setup.

Moreover, the new mobile processor supports up to faster FHD at 120 frames-per-second (fps) or UHD at 30fps of video playback, and up to FHD+ display for vivid and near perfect mobile entertainment.  That said, the new processor seems to be quite appealing. If the Galaxy M30 indeed comes with the chipset and aggressively priced, would you consider buying one of them? Do let us know in the comment sections.
