Bixby 2.0 might be announced next week at Samsung’s Developer Conference

Bixby is not even a year old and reports say that Samsung might unveil an updated 2.0 version next week at their Developer Conference. Bixby Voice was made available across 200 countries just back in August. One can activate it on the Bixby enabled Samsung device either by pressing the infamous dedicated key or by saying ‘Hi, Bixby’.

Recently, Samsung also appointed Chung Eui-suk as a new head of Service Intelligence at their Korean headquarters. He will be now responsible for the development of Bixby and other artificial intelligence services replacing Rhee In-jong. Samsung’s Mobile Chief Koh Dong-jin also quoted “We will supplement the incomplete parts of Bixby 1.0 at Bixby 2.0” at the Galaxy Note 8 launch in Korea.

Though Bixby could do several tasks, the voice feature is only available in English and Korean. And it is also limited to Samsung’s 2017 flagships such as Galaxy S8,  Galaxy S8 Plus and Galaxy Note 8. The report also suggest that Samsung might integrate Bixby with third party services and devices other than smartphones. Which means Bixby might come soon to a smart home appliance near you.

Though Bixby is far behind its competitors such as Google Assistant, Siri, Cortana and Alexa, Samsung is pushing hard to earn a name in Virtual Assistant segment.
