Galaxy S20 branding confirmed via NBTC certification

Samsung is about to unveil its next generation of Galaxy S series phones at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event on February 11th. Going by the previous generation, it should be called Galaxy S11 series, however, the South Korean smartphone maker was tipped to market it as Galaxy S20 series a few months back by Evan Blass.  And now, two weeks ahead of its official launch, the new branding has been confirmed via Thailand’s NBTC certification portal.

Recently, two Samsung smartphones with model numbers SM-G980F/DS and SM-G985F/DS were spotted on Thailand’s NBTC (National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission) certification site with Galavy S20 and Galaxy S20+ monikers. Yes, you read it right, the Galaxy S20 is indeed certified as ‘Galavy S20’ naming scheme, however, it is definitely a typo. The F in the model numbers denotes these variants to be unlocked international versions, wheres the DS part says them to have support for dual SIM, which is common in Asia.

Above all, the certifications were filed by Samsung Thailand and thus we can confirm the next-gen Galaxy S series phones to be called Galaxy S20 series. Although it was already known, it is always better to have official confirmation. Moreover, the listing also reveals the units certified to be manufactured in the company’s home country South Korea but it did not say anything about its specs, which anyways are already out, courtesy of a previous leak.
