Honor 20i receives March 2021 Android security patch update

Honor 20i was packed in April 2019 with Android 9.0 (Pie), EMUI 9.1. The smartphone received numerous security updates based on EMUI 9 and EMUI 10. Reportedly, it is now receiving a fresh update based on EMUI 10. In order to fix multiple security vulnerabilities, Honor is sending a couple of months old security level, March 2021 to the Honor 20i.

The latest build can be identified by software version 10.0.0.179 which weighs 122MB in size. It is a minor security patch update and does not bring any new features or changes to the user experience. Although, internally the new level fixes 2 Critical, 13 High levels, and 131 Medium levels CVE’s.

If you are an Honor 20i user and haven’t received the OTA update yet, you can navigate to Phone Settings -> System & updates -> Software update -> Check for updates. Alternatively, you can use the Support app for the same. To do so open the Support app -> Services -> Update -> Check for updates.

Honor 20i features a 6.21-inch IPS LCD panel paired with up to 6GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It packs Android 9.0 (Pie), EMUI 9.1 out of the box, and equips Kirin 710 chipset. In terms of the camera, the phone holds a triple rear module consisting of a 24MP primary, 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP lens to measure depth. For selfies and video calls, it houses a single 32MP snapper.
