Verizon Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S9 bag the April 2021 security update

Samsung Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S9 are receiving the latest April 2021 security patch update in the US. Verizon models are getting the latest updates.

The Verizon models are close to being the oldest smartphones from Samsung and are getting the newest updates. The company has added Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S9 series to the list of eligible devices to receive fresh updates.

The Updates

Samsung Galaxy S21

The latest update carries firmware version RP1A.200720.012.G991USQU2AUC8, RP1A.200720.012.G996USQU2AUC8, and RP1A.200720.012.G998USQU2AUC8 for the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra, respectively. It will receive the April 2021 security patch. It does not include anything else apart from the performance improvements.

Samsung Galaxy S9

For the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, it will receive the March 2021 security patch and includes no other improvements as such. The latest update carries firmware versions QP1A.190711.020.G960USQS9FUC2 and QP1A.190711.020.G965USQS9FUC2 for Galaxy S9 and S9+ respectively.

We expect the company to bring many updates to its eligible devices in the future. The users of the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S9 series will receive the updates automatically on their devices. They can also navigate to their device’s Settings > System Updates > Download and Install.
