According to Qualcomm,

“The new Snapdragon Wear 2500 platform helps kids to keep in touch with family when they’re away, learn and grow with fun-filled features and also helps them stay fit and active.”

The Snapdragon Wear 2500 platform is powered by quad-core A7 processors and an Adreno GPU. It runs an optimized version of Android for kid watches, based on Android Oreo with RAM capabilities as low as 512MB.

The Snapdragon Wear 2500 platform supports a 5 MP camera for video calls and offers access to rich educational video-based content for kids. The platform has added support for Qualcomm® Voice Activation along with popular AI-based voice assistants, like Google Assistant, Alexa, and Cortana. In particular, the company aims to create a separate platform for kids that offers access to rich messaging and integrated learning experiences.

The platform is equipped with a low-powered integrated sensor hub that helps smartwatch save its battery when WiFi and GPS are no longer in use. It also comes with a gesture-based gaming which offers immersive experience for the kids. It also employs NXP’s next-gen highly secure NFC solution, so that the kids would no longer need to carry cash and can just pay using NFC technology.

Qualcomm is in collaboration with more than 10 OEMs and operators in more than 10 countries for the new Snapdragon Wear 2500-based smartwatches. As per the reports, Huawei could be the first OEM to launch a 4G Kids watch based on the new Snapdragon Wear 2500 platform.
