Galaxy Fold didn’t receive the acclamations it deserved thanks to all those fusses that happened during its initial release. Nonetheless, Samsung is adamant about its foldable technology prowess and we could see a new addition to the foldable segment in upcoming Unpacked event along with the Galaxy S20s. The upcoming foldable device from the Korean Giant isn’t a direct successor to the Galaxy Fold as it will be of clamshell form factor and supposedly monikered as Galaxy Z Flip.

There were various rumors concerned with the plausible naming of the clamshell Galaxy fold with the most recent being Galaxy Bloom. Courtesy to the reliable Samsung tipster – Ice Universe, now, we can almost confirm the device ought to be out as Galaxy Z Flip, not Galaxy Bloom nor as Fold 2.

The Galaxy Z Flip is going to be considerably affordable than the original Galaxy Fold. Previous reports point out to a plausible launch price of around $850. As per the specifications on-board, we could see a Snapdragon 855 at its heart with at least 8GB of RAM and plenty of internal storage. The pièce de résistance will be of course its foldable display panel which if we’re not wrong will be made of thin glass instead of the plastic is seen on the Fold.

We’re less than a month far from the next unpacked which is set to kickstart on 11th February in San Francisco. Till then, stay tuned with us for all coverages related to Samsung Unpacked. Also, do let us know your take on the naming Galaxy Z Flip. Don’t you think it’d have been better if just Galaxy Flip? Whatever it’s, pen down in the comments section.
