The new chipset is aimed for gaming smartphones which need continuous processing to render games. However, the improvement in gaming performance is attained by overclocking both the GPU and CPU. All other specifications and structure remain the same with minimal changes. The primary core is now clocked at 2.96 GHz rather than the 2.84 GHz in Snapdragon 855. The new Snapdragon 855 Plus will have 1 Kryo 485 (ARM Cortex A76-based) “Prime” CPU core clocked at up to 2.96GHz, 3 Kryo 485 (ARM Cortex A76-based) “Performance” CPU cores clocked at up to 2.42GHz, and finally 4 Kryo 385 (ARM Cortex A55-based) “Efficiency” CPU cores clocked at up to 1.8GHz.

It features the same Snapdragon X24 LTE 4G modem and also supports the Snapdragon X50 for 5G.  It also has 4th-gen multi-core AI generation support.

The new chipset will surely boost gaming performance at 90 frames per second. However, there’s will be a minimal performance improvement at 30 and 60 frames per second.
