Facebook Messenger’s new UI is rolling out once again

Facebook’s redesigned UI for Messenger was rolled out to some users late last September. Then, the new UI made its global debut in October. But, it was faced with a backlash from users and the app started reverting to old UI for some users in November. But now, once again Facebook rolls out the new UI to all the Messenger users.

Facebook has been adding new features to its platform as well as other platforms like Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp which they own. But, as years passed by Facebook Messenger has received too many features that the app’s UI was cluttered. Hence, to improve it, Facebook entirely redesigned a new UI for their messaging app and released it as Messenger 4.

The new Messenger 4 follows Google’s material design principles and all the features are now grouped under three different tabs. These tabs are Chat, People, and Discover and they reside at the bottom of the screen for convenience as smartphones have larger displays these days. But, the new design received negative feedback from users initially. So, it was reverted back to old.

However, the new UI makes its way to Facebook Messenger once again. As this is a server-side update, it’s not necessary that running the latest version of the app will bring the new design. But still, it is recommended that you use the latest version from Play Store.
