Samsung had delegated the Galaxy S8 Series to quarterly security update schedule months ago. The devices are no longer getting monthly updates and it’s an implication of their ageing. As it’s obvious and to be expected, the latest OTA updates for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ bearing version numbers – G950FXXU9DTF1 and G955FXXU9DTF1 respectively brings nothing but just the updated security patch level. So there is nothing specific in the changelog section worth mentioning here.

The software build with June patch is rolling out to unlocked S8 Series only as of now. We could expect the update to reach carrier locked models in the coming days.

Forget about features and hit the update section to make your Galaxy S8/S8+ new at least in terms of security. In case if you haven’t received the update notification, manually trigger the update by going to Settings > Software update and then click on the Download and install option. Alternatively, grab the full Odin flashable firmware from Samfirm or other Samsung firmware hosting sites and install via Odin.
