Samsung’s new LPDDR5X DRAM will be the fastest RAM with 8.5 Gbps speed

Samsung has always amused us with its technological advancements. The latest LPDDR5X DRAM is the latest to the Korean Giant’s abode. After multiple stages of development to ensure performance, Samsung has finally revealed the fastest LPDDR5X DRAM which can achieve speed up to 8.5 Gbps. This isn’t a smartphone-centric RAM but will be mainly used in devices that handle heavy processing works like Servers, PCs, Automobiles, Renderings etc.

The LPDDR5X technology isn’t a new piece of technology. It was popular mainly because it uses less energy and delivers high output. Few high-end smartphones these days use the redesigned version of LPDDR5X to stand out from the crowd. But all those versions weren’t able to achieve a noticeable performance jump.

“The joint validation of 8.5Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM has enabled us to accelerate market-wide availability of this high-speed memory interface by more than a year, which is a tremendous accomplishment made possible through our long-standing collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies,” said Daniel Lee, Executive Vice President of the Memory Product Planning Team at Samsung Electronics. “As LPDDR memory continues to broaden its usage beyond smartphones into AI and data center applications, strong collaboration between memory and SoC vendors is becoming all the more important. Samsung will continue to actively engage with innovators like Qualcomm Technologies to enhance ecosystem readiness for future LPDDR standards.”

LPDDR5X DRAM chip also excites the Qualcomm and Samsung collaboration. This collaboration has brought significant raise in the supply of chips in the market. Daniel Lee, EVP of the Memory Product Planning Team at Samsung, and Ziad Asghar, VP of Product Management at Qualcomm are also excited about the result. The launch of the new LPDDR5X DRAM chip hasn’t been mentioned yet but it will hit the market pretty soon.
