[Update: September 2022 Security Patch] Redmi 9A and 9C Updates Tracker

Last year in June, Xiaomi announced the Redmi 9A and 9C smartphones featuring a 6.53-inch IPS LCD. Under the hood, it is powered by an Octa-core processor-based MediaTek Helio chipsets. The smartphone ships with Android 10, MIUI 12 out of the box. Redmi 9A and 9C equip a 13MP leading rear camera and a 5MP snapper for selfies.

  • [September 26, 2022]: Xiaomi is rolling out July 2022 Security Patch for Redmi 9A/9AT for the European variant. The firmware version V12.5.6.0.RCDEUXM is now rolling out for both devices.
  • [September 22, 2022]: Redmi 9A is now getting access to the months-old July 2022 security patch. The update arrives on firmware version V12.5.7.0.RCDINXM which is currently rolling out in India. Besides increasing system security, the build does not carry any other visible changes.
  • [September 15, 2022]: Redmi 9C NFC Global starts receiving the September 2022 Security patch update via the firmware version V12.0.14.0.QCSMIXM. Make sure to install incremental OTA Zip it on the same variant and the device and should be running the V12.0.3.0 version. You can download the OTA zip from here.
  • [August 15, 2022]: Xiaomi has started pushing a new update for the Redmi 9C smartphone. It comes with the firmware version V12.0.14.0.QCREUXM and is live for the EEA units. It is a stable update and brings the July 2022 security patch to the smartphone. The update also increases the system security and is rolling out as an OTA update. The users running on V12.0.13.0 can download the incremental update, while others can download whole recovery ROM for wait for OTA.
  • [August 15, 2022]: Xiaomi has started rolling another update to the Redmi 9A and Redmi 9AT smartphones. The update is live for the EEA units and comes with the build number V12.0.20.0.QCDEUXM. It is the same update that went globally with the July 2022 security patch. The users running on V12.0.19.0 can download the incremental update and install it. Other users will have to download the recovery ROM to install it.
  • [August 2, 2022]: The Redmi 9C and Redmi 9C NFC are picking up a new update with July 2022 security patch. The build is rolling out globally with firmware versions V12.5.4.0.RCRMIXM and V12.5.3.0.RCSMIXM respectively.   • [April 18, 2022]: Redmi 9A is receiving the March 2022 security patch update in India on firmware version V12.0.23.0.QCDINXM. The build increases the system security. [Recovery ROM] [Apply for OTA]
  • [March 4, 2022]: Redmi 9A is getting a new update that bumps the firmware version to V12.0.18.0.QCDEUXM. The build packs the February 2022 security patch that increases the system security.

  • [November 9, 2021]: The Redmi 9C is getting a minor upgrade globally. The update optimizes the system performance and improves system security and stability via firmware version V12.0.18.0.QCRMIXM. [Recovery ROM] [Apply for OTA]
  • [September 3, 2021]: The Redmi 9C NFC is getting a new update that bumps the security patch to August 2021. The Stable Fastboot update is based on Android 10. The package arrives on the build number V12.0.9.0.QCSEUXM weighing 4.4 GB in size. Apart from increasing the system security, no significant changes accompany the build.
  • [September 3, 2021]: Redmi 9A is receiving a new software update that brings the August 2021 security patch. The build is available globally in a stable phase on the firmware version V12.0.16.0.QCDMIXM. Besides increasing system security it doesn’t add any more changes. You can apply for the OTA here and flash the Recover ROM from here.
  • [August 22, 2021]: Redmi 9C NFC is grabbing the new update that adds the current security maintenance. The August 2021 security patch is rolling out to the Global and Russian variants of the device on firmware versions V12.0.9.0.QCSMIXM and V12.0.10.0.QCSRUXM respectively. The build is based on Android 10 and it does not carry any new additions apart from regular fixes.
  • [July 7, 2021]: Xiaomi is sending a stable software update to the Redmi 9C smartphone. Arriving on the firmware version V12.0.15.0.QCRMIXM, the build carries the June 2021 security patch for global variants of the device.  This is a minor bump in safety level and does not bring any new additions. Though, internally the update focuses to improve system security. Moreover, it addresses several bugs and different levels of CVEs.
  • [March 2, 2021]: Redmi 9A is globally receiving the February 2021 security patch. The update is based on Android 10 and brings the firmware number V12.0.11.0.QCDMIXM. Moreover, it fixes several bugs say, the issue of noise that could be heard while the screen was asleep. Read the full changelog here.

Like all the other updates, this as well is rolling out in a phase-wise manner. Accordingly, the users may have to wait a while to get the build. You can also check the update status manually by heading over to Settings > Software updates > Check for the updates. We also suggest you switch over to a WiFi network to avoid carrier data charges.
