Xiaomi starts rolling out MIUI 12.5 Update for the Mi 9 Pro 5G

Back in 2019, Xiaomi had launched the Mi 9 Pro 5G in China. The device was part of Xiaomi’s flagship Mi 9 line-up. The brand launched the device with MIUI 12. Since then it has received the MIUI 12 update last year in June. The company has now started rolling out the MIUI 12.5 update to Mi 9 Pro 5G in China. The MIUI 12.5 update for Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G comes as firmware version V12.5.1.0.RFXCNXM. To recall, Xiaomi has already started pushing MIUI 12.5 to various devices such as Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite, Redmi K30 4G, Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro, and so on.

With MIUI 12.5, Xiaomi has focused on improving performance and power savings. Xiaomi has also reduced the number of uninstallable bloatware apps that come pre-loaded. The V12.5.1.0.RFXCNXM update for Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G brings various additions to the Notes Application such as the ability to compose mind maps. With MIUI 12.5 update, Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G’s security patch is updated to May 2021.

This update is based on Android 11. It is being rolled out in batches in China. However, users who know how to manually flash the update can do by downloading the recovery ROM from here. Others can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > About Phone > System Updates.
