Asus launched its second generation Android Wear Smartwatch, the Asus Zenwatch 2 last year. The smartwatch was released with the 1st iteration of Android wear 1.3. It was based on Android Lollipop 5.1.1 out of the box. Asus has now finally rolled out the latest version of Android Wear 2.0 to its previous generation smartwatch.
The update will be rolling out to the Zenwatch 2 in two separate phases. The initial phase is currently being sent out to the users as an OTA update. And the final phase will be out by the end of this month or the beginning of August. The Sparrow WI501Q model of the watch is only receiving the update as of now and the Wren WI502Q model is yet to receive it.
You can check for the update by opening the settings app on your Zenwatch. Then selecting the system updates option under the About section. The update is expected to be rolled out completely to all the Zenwatches across the world within a week’s time.
If you are not patient enough to wait for that long and want to install the update immediately, you can do so by downloading the captured OTA link from here. Make sure that your Zenwatch has a charge of at least 50% and is on a stable internet connection before you download and install the update.
