OnePlus 9R gets Android 12 based OxygenOS 12 Open Beta 1

The OnePlus 9R offers Android 11 OS out-of-the-box based on OxygenOS 11. While the Chinese variants are expected to get the next version of Android this month, the Indian models are now getting the first beta of Android 12 based OxygenOS 12.

The OnePlus 9R users can experience the Android 12 features before its official release. To do so, navigate to Settings > System > System Updates > Top Right Icon > Local Upgrade. However, keep in mind that the beta build can carry some bugs and glitches. Also, some third-party apps might not work as expected.

  • Gallery
    • Gallery now allows you to switch between different layouts with a two-finger pinch gesture, intelligently recognizing the best-quality pictures, and cropping the thumbnail based on the content, making the gallery layout more pleasing
  • Canvas AOD
    • Canvas AOD brings you new diverse styles of lines and colors, for a more personalized lock screen experience with inspiring visuals
    • Newly added multiple brushes and strokes and support for color adjustment
    • Optimized software algorithm and improved face recognition to better identify the features and skin color of different figures

In case the beta build is not suitable for you, you can roll back to the previous stable channel. It will brush away the phone’s internal storage though.
